About us:

Beyond the classroom is a youth run and led education social enterprise. We deliver innovative life-skills programmes to young people, with an emphasis on the performing arts, youth leadership and peer mentoring.

Our mission is to equip young people with the knowledge and tools they need to be leaders of their own lives and communities. Our work is in no way exclusive. However, we currently have a focus on supporting young women from low-income and minority ethnic backgrounds aged 11 to 19.

 

Person Specification;

This position is ideal for an individual seeking to develop their career within the social enterprise / education sectors. You will share the team’s passion for youth empowerment and social enterprise, and be looking to apply your skills and experience to this area. For this particular position, experience is less important than skill, passion and commitment. You should have a proven commitment to this area of work demonstrated through at least one-two years previous full-time, part-time and / or voluntary experience within a similar setting.We are looking for a dynamic and dedicated individual with strong administration, communication and operational skills. The person we’re looking for will have the initiative and leadership skills required to ensure the smooth running of the operational side of Beyond the Classroom’s programme delivery, to support the provision and development of innovative life-skills programmes.

You will thrive in a small, creative and resourceful team and be willing to work flexibly within your role.  You will enjoy the opportunity to work closely with team members to support them in the delivery of their areas of focus. The Role

Your remit will cover all elements of programme support from content preparation, to organisational operations. There will also be opportunities for you to take ownership of particular projects on a seasonal basis and inline with organisational aims or initiatives

Operations

  • You will need to have the ability to multi-task, prioritise and manage your own workload
  • Ensure timely and accurate reporting, both narrative and statistical in line with BTC monitoring and evaluation commitments
  • Fulfill general administrative tasks for the programme delivery and operational team, including organising team meetings and the taking of minutes
  • Monitor the team’s key performance indicators
  • Act as a focal point for partners and contractors on the coordination of day-to-day operations relevant to Programmes.

Programmes

  • Administering, managing and analysing impact data from service delivery with young people.
  • Support the coordination and monitoring of the team’s strategic, operational plan on a weekly and monthly basis
  • Ensuring the programme delivery team have all the necessary resources to deliver programmes
  • Monitoring income and expenditure for assigned projects including props, technology and stationary.
  • Liaising with accreditation warding Body, to ensure the successful qualification of all peer mentors in achieving their targets and accreditations

The successful applicant will have;

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Keen and eager to learning new skills and experiences, within the BTC model
  • Evidence of a clear DBS history
  • A meticulous eye for detail
  • Proven passion for youth development
  • Reliable and able to work on your own initiative (to schedule, and within budget)
  • Experience of working in high-priority/targeted settings

 

Desirable;

  • An interest in working directly with young people in a creative/educational setting
  • Personal experience, talent or interest in the performing arts
  • A background in working with young people of diverse and challenging backgrounds and needs
  • Experience delivering Arts Award qualifications
  • Experience of youth programme facilitation
  • Good knowledge of the social and economic context of South London
  • Qualifications in business management, administration or youth development
  • Driving licence and access to a vehicle

Type: Part Time

Salary:  £20,000 – £25,000 pro rata 3 days/week
