Special Event: The changing landscape of Violence against Women and Girls sector in London: Brexit, Intersectionality & shaping DVPP

The ASCENT programme has been funded by London Councils to host three special events each year to address overarching issues in the VAWG sector in London. The events are part of the Strengthening Local & Pan-London VAWG services through sharing, learning and collaboration.
Who is this event for?

♀  Women voluntary sector organisations

♀  Services that address the needs of those at risk of or suffering from VAWG       for example:

  •  Voluntary and community sector organisations
  •  Statutory sector services
  •  Commissioners of VAWG services

♀ Partner organisations from related areas of delivery especially those that address women’s health needs, homelessness and housing.

Objective:
To provide a platform to talk, learn and discuss about three of the issues that VAWG organisations in London needs to be aware of in this day and age.

The event aims to:

♀  Increase participants understanding of intersectionality and its impact on the design and delivery of services

♀  Openly discuss the potential changes in legislation that Brexit may bring in relation to VAWG.

♀  Offer participants the opportunity to contribute to the RESPECT Accreditation Standards Review.

 

Activities:
♀  Presentation and discussion on Intersectionality led by Imkaan

♀  Seminar on Brexit and its impact on legislation related to VAWG led by Rights of Women

♀  Brief presentation and round table discussions of key areas of development for the Respect Accreditation standard.
ASCENT partners will host a networking lunch for participants.
