LAWRS’ counselling and psychotherapy project provides a women-centred, culturally specific service in Spanish and Portuguese for Latin American women survivors of violence against women and girls (VAWG). They offer counselling and psychotherapy support in compliance with the BACP Ethical Framework for Good Practice.
LAWRS are seeking experienced, dynamic, energetic and self-motivated individuals for the position of Counselling and Psychotherapy Coordinator.
The Counselling and Psychotherapy Coordinator will have overall responsibility for the smooth running of the service ensuring the maintenance of high levels of clinical excellence. The post holder will also be responsible for recruiting, inducting and training staff members of the team along with volunteer counsellors/psychotherapist. The coordinator will offer direct services entailing crisis intervention sessions, assessments, one to one counselling and referrals to counsellors and psychotherapists and will carry out a small one-to-one therapeutic caseload.
You will have an excellent command of English and Spanish or English and Portuguese (or the three languages); a professional Psychology or Counselling Qualification to Degree level or equivalent plus extensive experience of providing individual therapy to women survivors of abuse; professional registration with BACP (or being in the process of obtaining it); an excellent understanding of the issues facing Latin American women in London and in particular survivors of VAWG; line management experience and a commitment to secure and uphold women’s rights generally and in particular the rights of survivors of violence against women and girls (VAWG).
