Description:

Research has shown that domestic violence and abuse (DVA) disproportionately affect vulnerable adults. The new Care Act brings together adult care and support law in once piece of legislation. The course will explore the implications of the new act in the context of DVA, helping participants to identify survivors rights under the Act and new duties of local authorities and those working with vulnerable adults.

Participants will gain knowledge on the links between DVA and those with care support needs,  as well as what support and interventions can be effective with individuals experiencing these issues. This course includes how to respond appropriately to disclosures and how to support a survivor of abuse by recommending appropriate services.  Delegates will also learn about risk, harm and resilience.
