The gender pay gap is the difference in average earnings between men and women. It is written in terms of percentage of men’s earnings. In 2015, the gender pay gap is 19.1%. This means that on average, for every £1 earned by a man, a woman earns about 80p. The government wants to change this so that on average women and men earn the same. From 2016 they are making it so that employers with more than 250 workers will have to publicly report how much they pay men compared with women.

We want to hear what young women think about men and women’s pay, and how the government’s actions will affect them. Surveys like this make a huge difference to our work, as we can show government what young women think and make a strong case for what needs to change.

The survey is running until 24 August 2015. Everyone who completes it will be entered into a draw for a £20 voucher.
