Volunteering title: Communications & Admin Volunteer

The Women’s Resource Centre (WRC) is looking for someone who can support the Core and Communications Team on social media and communications.

The purpose of this volunteership is to work with the Finance and Admin Officer  to develop and implement an effective communications strategy for WRC.

 

Tasks for the Communications Volunteer will include:

 

  1. Website & Social Media

 

  • Assist the Finance and Admin Officer in amending and updating the website on a regular basis
  • Ensuring content is up to date, removing or archiving out of date information
  • Create a social media strategy, find out about Topic/Themes coming up per week and schedule tweets
  • Assist with monthly WRC e-news

 

  1. Video
  • Work with the Finance Officer to film leadership Thursday videos
  • Assist in the production of, and perhaps the editing of videos, where necessary

 

  1. Events
  • Assist in organising events where necessary
  • Assist in setting up trainings and greeting people

 

  1. Office Management
  • Assist Finance Officer to organise WRC contracts
  • Assist in updating the WRC database

 

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Essential Criteria

Experience

  1. Experience of working to maintain and update websites, using WordPress
  2. Experience of press work is desirable but not essential
  3. Experience of working in a communications or marketing capacity is desirable but not essential
  4. Experience of organising events is desirable but not essential
  5. Experience in having used MailChimp/ CharityMail or other e-news platforms

 

Skills and Abilities

  1. Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail
  2. Strong writing and proof reading skills
  3. Video editing skills
  4. Excellent skills in organising and prioritising a complex workload and working to tight deadlines
  5. Excellent keyboard skills and experience of using databases, internet search engines and Microsoft Office with at least an intermediate level of competence in the use of Word, Excel and Outlook
  6. Ability to be self-servicing for most administrative responsibilities
  7. Commitment to upholding the values, policies and procedures of the Women’s Resource Centre and in particular, a commitment to equality of opportunity
