Women and Girls Network (WGN) is a specialist therapeutic service leading in developing and delivering innovative and effective services for women and girls who have experienced all forms of gender-based violence. The Indigo Project is an exciting and innovative new service aimed at providing support to women and girls from a background of multiple disadvantages, complex, high-risk needs primarily associated with experiences of gender-based violence. The ideal candidates will be dynamic individuals with an in-depth understanding of the key issues affecting this client group. The individuals will also have a strong commitment to eradicating gender-based violence, challenging systems and structures to ensure the rights and needs of clients are protected and promoted and are passionate about developing and delivering empowering client centred services and would thrive in a multi-cultural feminist environment.

The service will deliver specialist, trauma focused, integrated holistic, high-intensity care pathways from a multi-disciplinary team. The Mental Health Advocates will be an essential part of this multidisciplinary team. This is an exciting opportunity, working with a diverse remit to ensure quality of advocacy provision and innovation as central to service delivery. The successful applicants will have backgrounds in and be able to demonstrate the following:

  • Experience of working within a multidisciplinary team in a VAWG specialist organisation
  • Experience of engaging clients with mental health presentations including high risk and multiple needs
  • Be able to demonstrate an understanding of mental health legislation and proven track record of protecting and promoting the rights of clients
  • Wide experience of advocating in a variety of settings including various health providers, immigration, social care, housing and welfare agencies

Type: 17.5 hours per week (part-time)
Salary: £30,000 per annum (pro-rata)
